Who are we?

Volt is a global fintech company specialising in real-time account-to-account (A2A) payments. We empower businesses to accept instant payments directly from customers’ bank accounts, enhancing speed, security, and efficiency.

What is A2A payment?

Account-to-account payments involve transferring funds directly from the payer’s bank account to the payee’s bank account without intermediaries like card networks. This method leverages open banking protocols to facilitate seamless and secure transactions.

Benefits of A2A payments:

  • Speed: Instant or near-instant settlement of funds.
  • Security: Bank-level authentication reduces fraud risk.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Lower transaction fees compared to traditional card payments.
  • Transparency: Clear transaction flows with reduced chargebacks.
  • Customer convenience: A simplified payment process enhances user experience.

How does Volt facilitate payments?

  • Volt integrates with banks and financial institutions across various regions to initiate payments directly from payers’ accounts.
  • We facilitate payments that transfer funds directly from the payer’s bank account to the merchant’s bank account.
  • Merchants have the option to use their own bank accounts or utilise the global network of Volt-provided local accounts in local currencies for receiving funds.

One endpoint to rule them all – Unified Global Payments API

To ensure that our solution is scalable across all regions, integration options, and checkout types, we have designed the Unified Global Payments API (Global API), a new API contract. This API simplifies the integration process, allowing our customers and partners to integrate with Volt more easily and maintain consistent logic when dealing with multiple markets or checkout variations.

Benefits of the Unified Global Payments API:

  • Scalability: Utilise one unified API for all regions and payment methods.
  • Simplified integration: Reduce development time with a consistent and standardised API structure.
  • Easier maintenance: Streamline updates and enhancements, as changes are applied uniformly across all markets.
  • Global reach: Access multiple markets through a single integration point.
  • Flexibility: Easily adapt to new regions or payment methods without significant code changes.

Throughout this guide, we will use the Global API to walk you through the integration process and explain the characteristics of each region. This approach ensures a best-in-class user experience for your customers and superior conversion rates.

Integration channels

There are different ways for you to integrate with Volt. Depending on the region, different options will be available. These options will be described in detail in the separate sections below.

Possible integrations:

  • Hosted checkout: The simplest and most efficient option. Volt’s payment page handles bank selection, user details, status screens, translations, and more. Integrate once and benefit from continuous improvements and optimised conversions.
  • API-only (build your own UI): Take full control over the user experience and build your own payment interface using Volt’s APIs, customising every aspect while Volt handles backend processing and compliance.
  • Mobile SDK: Ideal for mobile apps. Integrate Volt’s native components directly into your app for seamless bank selection and payment initiation, all within your app without browser redirects.
  • Embedded checkout: Embed Volt’s payment components directly into your website or app for a smooth, on-site payment process without redirections.

Each integration type offers unique advantages and can be tailored to your business needs. Detailed guidance on implementing each option, along with regional availability, will be provided in the subsequent sections.
