Overview
This documentation refers to Volt Accounts API v2, available since 2026.
For earlier versions, please refer to the following: Volt Accounts legacy documentation
A Volt Account is a payment account that allows you to hold balances in multiple currencies and manage all activity via API or through our Fuzebox portal.
Our account architecture is built to simplify your financial operations:
- Automatic reconciliation: Incoming payments are instantly matched and credited.
- Funds management: Accounts store value to facilitate payouts and refunds.
- Clear reporting: You get granular data on all your balances and transactions.
Volt Account
The Volt Account is the foundational account type, issued directly to your company (the PSP or merchant) under Volt's payment license. It is fully authorized to hold funds and initiate payments. This account is primarily used for:
- Receiving direct payments (such as Open Banking payments or manual credits) when operating as a standalone merchant.
- Managing the main pool of liquidity when acting as a collecting Payment Service Provider (PSP).
Named Account
The Named Account is a dedicated payment account used to manage specific sub-accounts within your platform. Unlike the Volt Account, Named Accounts are of two types:
- Business Named Account: Issued for businesses that operate under your umbrella.
- Individual Named Account: Issued for individual customers that operate under your umbrella.
Volt performs KYC on these underlying customers directly. The primary purpose is to provide 100% automatic reconciliation; by assigning a unique account to a single customer, all incoming payments sent to its corresponding account identifier are instantly matched.
